Phosphating and pickling plants
The steel material phosphating process has the purpose to produce a surface conversion layer, at thin and compact thickness strongly anchored on the surface, in order to facilitate the cold deformation. The phosphating that could be at Zn or at Mn, is strongly recommended for all those surfaces that must undergo through hard deformation treatment (cold-drawing, forming) before opportune covering with lubricating layer on phosphated surface.
It is unavoidable that the surface to be phosphating results perfectly clean, without oil and grease, metallic oxides and acidity. This is usually guaranteed by using chemical pickling operation (with H2SO4 or HCl) and subsequent strong washing or by means sand-blasting operation.
The phosphating process is generally carried out by material dipping into hot solution tank with dipping time linked to the expected layer thickness.
The phosphating process is applicable in the field of pipes, wire rod, small items, bars and profiles.
For stainless steel material the phosphating process is not applicable and it is replaced by salted operation.
